Fibrous mass treatment (Morton’s Neuroma)
900 probes =
- 6 Joules average (4 Joules WALT)
- 1-6 spots (1 Joule per spot)
- Frequency = 1x per day down to 1x per week
In a 2020 review article on current treatments for Morton’s neuroma Thomson et al. found low level laser treatment of the condition to be limited in success.
However, studies using high intensity laser therapy have shown better results.
In an earlier article Lana et al. (2017) looked at Morton’s neuromas before and after laser treatment with ultrasound imaging. They found that HILT (using a Nd:YAG laser, fluence, 15 J/cm2; pulse width, 0.3 ms; and repetition rate, 7 Hz. Laser energy, total = 1000 pulses) induced changes including:
- ill-defined borders
- less pain (or the absence of pain)
